Coinbase Will Be Launching in Canada, Coinbase One Available For Free Trial

Coinbase has just announced that they will finally be bringing their services to Canada. To onboard Canadians, new users will get a 30 day free trial of their subscription service Coinbase One. This subscription will come with zero trading fees, prioritize staking, and give subscribers prioritized customer service.

In late June, a group of Canadian lawmakers published a report that vouched for the use of blockchain and the need to create a national strategy. It’s not farfetched that Brian and the company saw this and figured it was time to expand in North America.

Metamask Collabs with Banxa to Create Simple Crypto Buys on Apple Pay

You’re all aware of Metamask; by working with the fintech firm Banxa users can now purchase crypto with Apple Pay. As you’d expect, KYC is a must if you intend to take advantage of this service. While there are a few ramping choices, this integration is the first to offer a one click option to users. Every incremental reduction of friction helps to bring on more users.

With just Apple Pay, you can now get funds into your Metamask wallet. Welcome to 2023 people, it gets easier with each passing year. There are certain users that avoid custodians, so the ability to go straight on-chain is a nice change. Seeing more crypto users is always a plus, but more on-chain usage is what will really show people the power of crypto.

SBF Burned $100M in Political Donations, DOJ Alleges

The DOJ is claiming that SBF used these illegally obtained funds to influence crypto regulation in the United States. Prior to the 2022 midterms, SBF sent some $100M to Republican and Democrat politicians alike to achieve policy goals, and possibly some ‘help’ on the chance that he’d be doing some time.

This is a strange development considering the campaign charge against SBF was dropped already. However, it appears the DOJ will continue to pursue these allegations as part of the money laundering charges. SBF has since been sent to jail after tampering with witnesses. The trial is set to begin in October.
